Kimi Raikkonen disappointed about losing pole position in China
Kimi Raikkonen was left disappointed with his effort in China, as he felt he just wasn’t good enough in Q3 to maintain come out on top during Qualifying.
After Raikkonen had finished his qualifying lap, he was in provisional pole position and with Vettel not doing so well in Sector 1 and Sector 2 it seemed as if Raikkonen would finally get that elusive pole position.
However, a miraculous final sector from Vettel meant that Raikkonen had to settle for P2.
Kimi was visibly disappointed after qualifying came to an end as he genuinely believed that he had a chance of starting the race on Sunday from pole position.
“It was OK, but not good enough. It’s not exactly what I wanted,” Raikkonen said
“We’ll go again tomorrow and see what we can do. We’ll try to improve. It’s going to be a long race. We’ll try to stay out of any issues and then see how it goes.”
The Finn is though looking forward to the race and hopes that there are no reliability issues in Shanghai tomorrow.
“First of all we need to make sure that we can run a trouble-free race, and then we need to see how it pans out, as it’s a long race,” Raikkonen said.
“We know what we’re going to do between ourselves, but the start will be a big part of it.
“We’ll see how it pans out, what the race brings. We need to make the best out of it.” he concluded.
Ferrari though would ecstatic with this result as they have come a long way from how things seemed at testing in Barcelona.
