Mark Wood to return to England to play county cricket
England pacer Mark wood, who was acquired by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in January auction, will return to England to prepare for upcoming series. He played only the opener game against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing season where he conceded 49 runs without striking even once.
The cricketer will return to England midway through the tournament to play for Durham in order to prepare himself for the upcoming home Test series against Pakistan and India.
Pakistan will play two-match test series whereas India will play five-match test series at England. The 28-year-old cricketer revealed the news by posting on social media Instagram on Tuesday (8th May).
“The decision has been made for me to return home to England to prepare for the English summer,” he wrote in his post.
“Having worked so hard to get back into the test team, and because I’m not currently not in the CSK side, I am coming home to play for Durham to hopefully put my name in the hat for Test match selection.
“To the CSK management, players and supporters, thanks so much for the support and welcoming me into this family club, it was a very proud moment for me to be presented me cap by MS Dhoni. Although things didn’t quite go to plan this year, I hope to be able to wear it again. I’ll be watching from home and cheering you on.” he added.
Other English cricketers like Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali are also expected to leave the tournament by the end of the league matches to prepare themselves for the upcoming home summer series.
Pakistan’s tour to England will kick off on May 24 at Lord’s followed by the second test from June 1 at Headingley. Last time when Pakistan toured to England, they managed to draw the test series by 2-2.
CSK official Instagram handle also shared the news and confirmed it.
