Watch: Dhoni looses his cool as Watson’s overthrow leads to CSK’s defeat
In the fixture between, RR and CSK, RR needed 177 to win. The equation was down to 28 runs of the last two overs. Skipper Dhoni had two bowlers to choose from for the penultimate over in Shane Watson and David Willey. Dhoni went with instinct and chose Willey over Watson. Willey had gone for plenty in his initial overs but the Captain entrusted faith in him.
The decision seemed to be going well as Jos Buttler (95*) – who was in great nick – was removed from strike on the first ball for a single.
However all rounder Krishnappa Gowtham clubbed a couple of sixes in the over to change the match scenario. Although he was caught by Dhoni on the last ball of Willey’s over, Gowtham had already done the damage.

With 12 in the bank and Buttler on strike, Dwayne Bravo was given the final over. After sneaking couples on the 2nd and the 3rd deliveries, Buttler tonked Bravo’s slower one over mid wicket to bring down the equation to 2 required off the last two balls.
Bravo bowled a delivery outside the off stump which Buttler was not able to connect properly. The ball went straight to Watson in the inner ring while the batsmen changed sides. However, Watson could not keep his cool and took a shy at the stumps.

Coupled with the disappointment of both overs and the unnecessary throw, even Dhoni gave away his displeasure. He shook his violently and walked off in disbelief.
MSD came very hard on his bowlers in the post match presentation as well.
“I think it is the bowling. We had to bowl one particular length and the bowlers were instructed on what they need to bowl and where they need to bowl. That back of the length was a difficult one to hit.
“We at least got hit 4-5 boundaries off full length. What really happens is once you are told what to bowl, you need to be bowling to that area. They need to commit and execute. It is not the planning but the execution that goes haywire. That was a par score or a par plus score. I think the bowlers let us down to some extent.”
