In Team India’s recent tour to South Africa, Kohli had an embarrassing moment when a waiter ignored his handshake.
Kohli is one of India’s biggest stars, if not the biggest. This automatically makes him one of the biggest stars in the world. Even when he tours to places outside India, he enjoys a tremendous fan following.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Kohli narrated many funny stories. One such was about his recent tour to South Africa. In a funny incident, a waiter left Kohli embarrassed.

On Indian team’s recent tour of South Africa, a group of Indian cricketers including Kohli went out for lunch near Cape Town. One of the waiters shook Kohli’s hand and was all praise for his style of play. In a short while, another waiter approached the Indian Captain.
Seeing him, Kohli extended his arm out, thinking that he too wanted a hand shake. But the waiter moved a couple of steps forward and picked up a dirty plate. As Kohli held his pose, the waiter walked off without even looking at him.
Kohli ‘s Indian teammates could not stop laughing as the incident played out. Kohli himself was quite amused by what has happened. He says, “These guys went mad. I felt so embarrassed. He didn’t even look at my hand.”
This goes to show that notwithstanding all the glamour and fanfare that surrounds the Indian Captain, he still has his feet on the ground. Inside him, somewhere there is still that Delhi boy who had a dream to play for his country. He does not take himself as seriously.
The Indian Captain will have to miss his county stint for Surrey due to neck injury and would next feature in the ODI series against England.
