Zidane linked with stunning £176 million move to Qatar

Zinedine Zidane resigned as Real Madrid boss only yesterday, but latest reports suggest that the Frenchman might not be out of job for too long.

Zidane shocked the footballing community when he announced his resignation as manager of Real Madrid yesterday. While he suggested that he might take a break, stunning reports have recently emerged from Qatar.

The Sun has reported that Zidane has been lined up as the new manager for Qatar national team, and would be paid £44 million a year.

The Frenchman insisted yesterday that he wishes to take a sabbatical, but a potential contract of £176 million during the course of four years seems too good to turn down.

The heavy bid was first suggested by Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris, who tweeted about the offer.

It is believed that Zidane will lead Qatar in the FIFA World Cup in 2022. Qatar, being the hosts, have received the automatic qualification for the world cup. This will be the first world cup tournament in the history of Qatar.

Earlier, Zidane has also been pipped to succeed Didier Deschamps as the manager of France. Deschamps, in his media interaction, stated that he definitely sees Zidane managing France.

Meanwhile, speculations regarding Zidane’s replacement have gained pace. Mauricio Pochettino has said that a Real Madrid offer is considerable, but he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur. Arsene Wenger’s name has also emerged as one of the front-runners for the job.
