Virat Kohli set to be available for India’s tour of Ireland
Indian Captain Virat Kohli will be available for the 2 T20Is to be held in Ireland if he fully recovers from his injury.
Recently, it came to light that Kohli would have to miss his County stint for Surrey due to neck injury. There was a lot of hype around Kohli’s County stint for Surrey. Cricket pundits applauded his move to prepare himself well in order to put up a good show in the Test series against England. On the other hand, the idea of the Indian Captain missing the 2nd T20I against Ireland and the one off Test against Afghanistan did not go down well with some.
Kohli is currently undergoing a schedule to recover from a neck injury that he picked up in a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. However, he is not reported to be recovering quickly and in all probability will fly to Ireland with the rest of the team.
India are scheduled to play two T20Is in Ireland on 27th and 29th June in Malahide.
Lauding the commitment level of Virat, a source recently told TOI, “Surrey was an option; the England tour is a responsibility. He’s taken a break whenever there was a need for it. That’s why he sat out of the last T20 in South Africa and did not play in the Nidahas Trophy. It shows that priorities are well in place. It’s unfortunate that Virat hasn’t been able to leave for Surrey but recovering fully in time is the more important thing,”
Kohli was recently spotted at the Bandra Kurla Complex with Assistant coach of Indian cricket team Sanjay Bangar. TOI reported- “He’s (Kohli) begun with a relatively lighter stint at the indoor nets. In a couple of days, he’ll be back on the field. By the end of the first two weeks (of June) – around the 15th – he’ll be in Bangalore for the fitness test and to begin training.”
