Pakistan and England will play the 1st test of the 3-match test series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi starting tomorrow. This is England’s first test series in Pakistan after a spell of 17 years, but a so-called ‘virus’ has hit the English team ahead of the match.

England have already announced their playing 11 for the first test, where they have shown a bold approach. Brendon McCullum said that the English team will play for results, and they have handed a debut to Liam Livingstone, whereas Ben Duckett is named the opener.

It is certain that England have proved their aggressive approach with their selection process only by trying the players who have done well in the shortest format of the game. Although, it will be interesting to see if the match can start at its original time.

Food poisoning symptoms

It has been reported that several members of the English cricket team have fallen ill ahead of the first test in Rawalpindi. There are no confirmed reports about the type of illness, but food poisoning is said to be one of the possible reasons behind the same.

Food Poisoning is a very common disease that is caused by eating contaminated food. There is no particular reason when or why the food gets contaminated with bacteria as there are a lot of processes involved before serving the food on the plate. It may take a few hours for the symptoms to kick on after eating the food.

Some most common symptoms of food poisoning are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, muscle aches, etc. In most cases, the food poisoning automatically gets treated in a few days without any kind of medication. However, in some cases, it may lead to dehydration which can be really serious and medication is required in those cases.

There is no specific way to treat this disease, and it varies from person to person. Although, England’s Joe Root has said that the concern is not food related as they are carrying their personal chef on the tour, and he is absolutely fine at the moment.

“It is unfortunate we are in this situation, but we don’t think it is food-related,” Root said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

“I don’t think there is any correlation between the two and in fact, the chef is ill as well, so I don’t think it is the food.”

It is said that the virus may pass in the next 24 hours, but there is no certainty of the same. According to the World Test Championship rules, a test must be staged across 5 days.

Ahead of the first test tomorrow, only Joe Root, Keaton Jennings, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook attended the training session. England’s spokesperson said that if the condition does not improve, the match may not start as scheduled.
