Roger Federer to split with Nike and sign for Uniqlo, according to reports
When you try and imagine what Roger Federer looks like, the Nike head band is one imagery that you just cannot do without.
But that Nike headband is set to be replaced by a Japanese brand, one that will make Roger Federer thrice as richer than he currently is.
Federer is on a $7.5 million kit deal with Nike but the deal came to an end in March and Federer hasn’t renewed it yet.
A report in the Times states that Roger is in line to sign a deal with Uniqlo that will be worth close to $22 million per year.
If Federer actually goes through with the Japanese brand, his brand value will shoot up by 3 times, something that is bound to push him up that Forbes highest paid athletes list.
Federer is currently 7th on the list and is the highest earning Tennis player thanks to all those brands that he endorses all around the globe.
The Swiss Ace’s earnings last year were $77.2 million and that will witness roughly a $15 million impetus if Federer moves on from Nike.
However, Federer has already renewed his deals with Mercedes Benz and Lindt and thus Federer fans are hopeful that that Nike headbands stick.
Roger Federer is set to return to the Tennis court tomorrow after a long break from the tour, as he skipped the entire Clay court season for the second year in a row.
Federer is set to play in Stuttgart tomorrow and will face Mischa Zverev to kickstart his Grass court season.
This will be Federer’s first match on tour after that second round loss to Thanasi Kokkinakis in Miami.
