“Pressure to hit over the top”: Ricky Ponting accurately predicts Marco Jansen’s wicket off Nathan Lyon’s delivery in AUS vs SA Brisbane test

Australia and South Africa are facing each other in the 1st test of the 3-match test series at the Gabba in Brisbane. On a green top, Cummins opted to bowl first, and the bowlers of the side took full advantage of the seaming conditions. In an interesting incident during the game, Ricky Ponting yet again proved his class in the commentary box.

South African batters had a terrible start to the tour down under, where the team lost their initial four wickets for just 27 runs. Kyle Verreynne and Temba Bavuma stitched a brilliant 98-run partnership, but the floodgates opened again after this partnership, and South Africa got bundled out for just 152 runs.

Kyle Verreynne played a brilliant knock of 64 runs, whereas Bavuma scored 38 runs. Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets each, whereas Pat Cummins and Scott Boland got a couple each.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is currently doing commentary in the Australia vs South Africa Brisbane test for 7Cricket. Ponting is said to be one of the greatest to ever play the game and his game reading is also appreciated by many around the world. He has predicted some dismissals from the commentary box, and he has done the same yet again.

Lyon was bowling the 40th over of the innings, and Jansen was on strike on the 5th ball of the over. The Australian team changed the field, and Ponting immediately said that Jansen will try to hit it over the top, and the same happened. Jansen tried to smash Lyon, but he could not connect and Green took a good catch from short mid-wicket.

This is not the first time that Ponting has successfully predicted a dismissal. During the 2nd Ashes test in Adelaide last year, Ponting predicted how Stokes will target Cameron Green’s stumps to get him out, and the same happened.
