“Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are Batman & Superman”: Former NBA Champs Want Celtics Guard’s ‘Robin’ Status Scrapped
Since the day Boston Celtics re-emerged as one of the best teams in the East, Jayson Tatum has been their MVP. However, the consistency of Jaylen Brown in that period and even better performances in games that matter should have made him much more than a second fiddle to Tatum.
Better late than never. The Celtics’ two-guard is now getting the recognition that has been long due. In fact, two former NBA champs believe that JB isn’t a Robin to JT’s Batman anymore, he is Superman.
Matt Barnes and Jelani McCoy declare Jaylen Brown equivalent of Jayson Tatum
Neither Matt Barnes nor Jelani McCoy was a superstar in the NBA at any point in time, but the two of them lifted the ultimate reward in the game of basketball, playing alongside some of the greatest players to ever dribble a basketball.
The former Kobe Bryant teammates must know how the stardom hierarchy works in a team. And on Showtime Basketball’s recent episode they talked about how Brown is now a superstar of his own, and not just second fiddle to the MVP favorite, Tatum.
“Jaylen Brown is no longer even a Robin, those are two superstar Marvel characters, Avengers assembling, and fighting, it’s not a 1A or 1B thing,” McCoy said while talking about how Tatum has become the best in the league and Brown becoming a superstar himself.
Barnes echoed his former opponent’s voice and said, “I definitely agree with Tatum and Brown. One’s Batman, one’s superman. These guys are incredible, they take turns, while also involving the rest of their team.”
Indeed. Despite missing Robert Williams III and Al Horford for a significant amount of games, the Celtics have been the best team in the NBA with a 22-8 record.
Brown cannot miss All-Star selections from now on!
While Tatum, the league’s current MVP leader is averaging over 30p-8r-4a, Brown isn’t further behind. The shooting guard is averaging a career-high 26.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
He can’t miss the All-Star selection now, can he? Man’s got to be a starter now. The 2021 All-Star hasn’t averaged under 23p-6r-2a-1s for the last three seasons and needs to have a consistent presence in All-Star and All-NBA teams.
