“I think I didn’t do much to kind of earn that”: Modest Cameron Green reacts to INR 17.5 crore IPL salary post Mumbai Indians’ 2023 auction bid
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green must have had the best Christmas of his life. A few days earlier, he bagged an INR 17.5 crores contract from the record IPL champions Mumbai Indians and he scalped his career’s maiden fifer in the Boxing Day test against South Africa.
It was Green’s very first IPL auction and many former players already tipped that he will be one of the highest earners. The pace all-rounders are always in demand, and it was proved yet again. Although Mumbai Indians’ coming into him was a surprise to many, the record champions were committed to getting him.
On the Boxing Day test, the happiness of Green went over the roof as he scalped his first test fifer against quality opposition in South Africa. Boxing Day tests at the MCG are always special, and the young lad from Australia made it even more special for himself.

After the 1st day of the Boxing Day test, it was certain that Green will definitely be asked about the huge paycheck he got during the IPL 2023 auction. Green was quite modest in his approach and said that he did not too anything much to earn that kinda amount, he just gave his name and the rest happened automatically.

Green insists that the amount of sum he got during his auction won’t change him personally, and he will approach the game in the very same way. He said that he wasn’t moved an inch due to the auction and his pure focus was on the Boxing Day test against South Africa.
“To be fair, I think I didn’t do much to kind of earn that,” Green said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
“I just put my name into the auction, and it just happened. It doesn’t change who I am or how I think and all the confidence I have in my cricket. Hopefully, I didn’t change too much.”
Green agreed that he was a part of some banter by his co-players, but it was all light-hearted. He is now the highest-earning Australian in the history of the Indian Premier League.
