Michael Jordan’s Failure as $1.7 Billion Team’s Owner Escalates After Ja Morant’s Grizzlies Played on Christmas
With the Grizzlies playing on Christmas, Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets remain the only NBA team to not play on the momentous occasion. His team, which is worth a staggering $1.7 Billion is yet to see the spotlight on America’s most important holiday games.
MJ might have been the greatest player to have graced the hardwood but as a general manager and as a team owner, there are more questions than answers.
His Hornets have been among the league’s worst teams on a constant basis. That is not good news, for the league and for MJ as an owner.

LaMelo Ball might be a star on Michael Jordan’s team whose light is quickly fading
There is no doubt that Charlotte has had stars in the past. Be it Kemba Walker or now, LaMelo Ball, the franchise is a cauldron for gifted point guards.
However, that does not give the team any more pass for being bad. And it is largely down to the fact that MJ as a team owner has just not made the right decision.
Sure, his current GM, Mitch Kupchak might be good but he is not among the league’s best. And to build rosters worthy of competing for titles, they need better personnel.
This Tweet calls out Jordan for being a negligent team owner and for once, we couldn’t agree more.

The Grizzlies were in the same spot a couple of years ago
Ja Morant has transcended the team and is on his way to being one of the league’s faces. The elevation of Memphis as a franchise is quite inspirational.
Just like where the Hornets are today, the Grizzlies were in the same spot not too long ago. Shrewd moves and a high draft pick changed the trajectory for them.
The same principle can be applied to the Hornets, they already picked up LaMelo Ball just one year after the Grizzlies drafted Ja. And while LaMelo’s potential may not be as high as Morant’s; the Hornets may have a shot at Victor Wembanyama.
Will Michael Jordan ever be questioned for this role as a team owner? Only time will tell.
