Indian team management displeased with the politics around the Yo-Yo Test
The Indian team management has expressed its anger with the politics around Yo-Yo Test in an interview to TOI.
Few days back, BCCI GM Saba Karim had blamed the cricketers for their failure in the Yo-Yo test, saying that it is they who are responsible for their own downfall as they did not work hard enough.
“Shami had been sitting on the bench for almost the entire IPL. He didn’t work on his fitness. Rayudu also knew he needed to score 16.1 and he had five weeks to prepare for his fitness. Samson, too, wasn’t training during the IPL. He was just batting in the nets. Everybody knows 16.1 is the bare minimum, which is non-negotiable. It’s not hidden either,” Karim had said.

The Indian team management has now hit back against him in an interview to TOI: “Individuals who have nothing to do with cricket are busy interfering in team affairs. Saba Karim is not telling the entire truth. His remit is to stick to domestic cricket and women’s cricket, not the Indian men’s team.
Instead, Karim is busy leaking stories to the media about what happens in the dressing room. For starters, he needs to confirm if his KRA involves interfering in Team India affairs?”
The member on the condition of anonymity added, “The idea of Yo-Yo tests is not an overnight thing. It’s been designed keeping all relevant officials in the loop. It’s not a one-off either. If there are ideas from former cricketers to improve upon it, then fine. But why politicize the whole thing?
If there are any questions that need to be asked, let them be with skipper Virat Kohli. Why play politics when the team is not here and is away on an important tour?”
