“I Cried When Dad Died”: How Shaquille O’Neal Uses His $400 Million For His Family Thanks to a Promise He Made
Shaquille O’Neal is perhaps one of the best most generous men in the history of the NBA. The man routinely looks to share his blessings with others, often even choosing to do so with strangers around him. And unlike other celebrities, he doesn’t wait for a holiday to do so.
Now, of course, that kind of person was always going to be giving to his family as well. And given his gargantuan $400 million net worth, he has the ability to do it too.
But why do it at all?
Sure, it has been ingrained in his personality for the longest time. But by whom, and why?
And most of all, why does he continue to do it?
On one occasion, the Diesel answered all these questions. And frankly, it’s hard not to shed a tear after hearing his story.
Shaquille O’Neal keeps his family safe because of a tragic promise he made to his father
Phillip A. Harrison wasn’t Shaquille O’Neal’s biological father, but he taught him all he knew from a very young age. So, when he tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016, it broke the big man.
There were many condolences given, and far more tears shed. However, as Shaq once revealed, it went further.
There was a heartfelt oath taken that day, that Shaq recently revealed.
Take a look at the clip in the Instagram post below to watch him explain.

It’s fair to say that O’Neal has stuck true to his word to this day. And given how strong his character is, that likely won’t be changing anytime soon.
Shaquille O’Neal won’t just give his fortune to his kids for nothing
Shaquille O’Neal’s $400 million fortune is quite a bit for anyone to inherit. And so, you’d think that his 6 children likely won’t have to earn their own living… right?
Well, as it turns out, Shaq has a few demands before he lets his kids ‘touch any of his cheese’.
3 degrees may be a lot. However, it just means that Shaquille O’Neal is making his kids earn their part of his fortune.
That’s nothing less than brilliant parenting.
