“Wasn’t feeling sorry for myself”: Amid MCL Injury Concerns, Kevin Durant Reveals Frustration Over Missing 3 Straight All-Star Games

A pretty healthy player for the majority of his career, however, Kevin Durant has been plagued with injuries over the past few years.

Having sustained several horrific injuries has only led the 6-foot-10 forward to miss out on an ample number of games. In 2021-2022, a season after suffering an Achilles injury, Durant merely played 35 out of the 72 games. In 2022-2023, KD would go on to be sidelined for 27 games. And this campaign, having suffered an MCL sprain, the 2014 MVP has already missed out on a few weeks.

Not being healthy, The Durantula kept missing out on playing in the All-Star Game in consecutive years. Being on the floor for the prestigious event last in 2019, injuries have deprived the fans of watching Kevin perform along with the other big names in the league.

The Brooklyn Nets recently announced that their star would be re-evaluated in the next 2 weeks. With the All-Star Game to be held on 19^th February, there is a huge possibility that the 2-time NBA champ might miss out yet again.

Recently, the 4-time scoring champ revealed his mentality of having to miss out on the ASG for 3 straight years. Not feeling sorry for himself, the Slim Reaper went on to state that he should’ve been better in avoiding such injuries.

In an interview, the 34-year-old further said:

“I wasn’t feeling sorry for myself or like why me? It’s like, sh*t, another year not playing against my old teammates, another year, at that point, maybe missing the All-Star Game, not playing against LeBron James at home. Stuff like that I look forward to.

It’s part of basketball as well. Like I said, I could’ve put myself in a better position to not get injured… so I got to put myself in better positions on the floor to avoid stuff like that.”

KD will play in the 2023 All-Star Game if he’s “100%”

Leading the Eastern Conference as the highest vote-getter, the 12-time All-Star is most probably going to be named captain along with LeBron James.

However, Durant also spoke about the upcoming All-Star Game and his availability for the same. In the same interview, the former Texas product stated that he didn’t want to rush into anything, and would only play if he was at “100%”.

Kevin Durant was asked if he wants to play in this year’s All-Star game or if the Nets prefer him to rest:

Prior to the injury, KD was playing absolutely terrific. Averaging 29.7/6.7/5.3, Durant was the main reason behind the Nets being a top 4 seeded team in the East.
