“Matt Barnes Spit in His Direction in Disgust”: Former Clippers’ Forward Fought Fiance’s ‘Ex-Husband’ Outside Cowboys vs 49ers game
Matt Barnes has come under scrutiny after a recent viral video shows him spitting on a man. The video, shot outside of the Cowboys vs 49ers game, was released by TMZ. The report revealed that the man involved in the altercation was Barnes’ fiance’s ex.
The incident took place right before the now viral game between the Cowboys and the 49ers. Allegedly, Matt’s fiance’s ex, a 37-year-old man named David Patterson Jr., approached the former Clippers player and started to harass him.
The incessant following and name-calling finally got to the ESPN analyst who was then caught on video spitting on his fiance’s ex-husband.
Matt Barnes accused fiance’s ex-husband of starting the altercation
As per TMZ’s report, Matt Barnes accused David of starting the fight. The video clearly shows Barnes spitting on the man and then later awkwardly wrestling with him while people film.
Barnes later filed for a restraining order against Patterson. In his court documents, he stated that David hunted him down aggressively and then confronted him outside the stadium. Barnes also claimed that Patterson then hurled expletives at him and also threatened the 6ft 7″ player.
The former NBA star then retorted by spitting in his ‘direction’ to avoid a physical confrontation.
Matt: “I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and out of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust.”

According to Barnes, Patterson is jealous of his relationship with his ex-wife and has been harassing the ESPN analyst for months. He also made serious accusations that he had even threatened to shoot Barnes.
Thankfully, the situation did not escalate any further and no one was harmed. However, the outcome of the entire fiasco will be decided once the investigation is over.
Barnes has become a successful Analyst
Matt Barnes was a decent role player with 14 years of league experience. Though his resume is nothing to boast about, Barnes got the job done and was even on a championship-winning team.
However, it wasn’t until his career as an ESPN Analyst took off that Barnes became a common name in the industry. Today, he is one of the few NBA players who have become a full-time pundit.
