Nadal beat the Israeli tennis player 6-3 6-2 6-2 to reach the second round of Wimbledon, where he will meet Mikhael Kukushkin.
During the match, Rafael Nadal hit 30 winners and won 79% of the points on his first serve, as he pulled out a commanding performance on the Centre Court. The second seed Spanish star arrives at Wimbledon on the back of his eleventh French Open title.
Nadal looked anything but rusty throughout the whole match against Sela, and dominated his opponent right from the start. He pulled out some brilliant winners, but one which left the viewers in awe came in the second set.
Even Wimbledon’s official feed were stunned with his remarkable winner, and couldn’t define what the shot actually was.
“A reverse no-look smash? An improvised overhead volley?” wrote Wimbledon on their Facebook page.
Here is the shot:
Nadal’s second round opponent, Mikhael Kukushkin, beat Canadian Vasek Pospisil in a four-setter, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Earlier, Roger Federer also eased past his first round opponent Dusan Lajovic in merely 79 minutes, and will face Lucas Lacko in the second round today.
