Jose Mourinho frustrated with Man United board as Alex Sandro move blocked

Manchester United have completed three summer signings so far.

Jose Mourinho has been a grumpy figure at Manchester United ever since the pre-season began last week. He has been constantly hinting towards the inability of the board in procuring the signings.

After the 0-0 draw against San Jose Earthquakes, Mourinho said, “One thing is what I want and the other thing is what is going to happen,” when asked about the signings for the season. And now, it seems like the reason for Jose Mourinho’s frustration with the Manchester United board is out.

According to Telegraph, the club hierarchy has blocked a move for Juventus star Alex Sandro. Manchester United have been long linked with the signing of the defender. However, Telegraph reports that board believes they don’t want to be left with a stockpile of defenders at the club.

The current defensive line-up includes Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who have been struggling with form and injuries throughout the season last year. Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo have also been on the sidelines for most of the season due to injury.

It was reported last year that Ed Woodward, the CEO of Manchester United, was waiting for the green light from Jose Mourinho to offer a deal for Alex Sandro. However, it now seems like the board is not ready to bow to Jose Mourinho’s demands.

The Premier League season is about to begin in 15 days time, and a cold-war between the club’s manager and the board is the last thing Manchester United would want. The Old Trafford club finished second in the Premier League last year, 19 points behind city rivals Manchester City.

United were also knocked out in the Champions League round-of-16 by Sevilla, and lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea.
