WATCH: Nick Kyrgios unknowingly throws his towel at a line judge
Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the Citi Open due to the ongoing injury.
Ever since Nick Kyrgios rose to fame after defeating Rafa Nadal in the 4th round at Wimbledon 2014, he has managed to remain in the news for some reason or the other. The Australian, who has a reputation of being a ‘bad-boy’ in Tennis, was in the spotlight for an amusing incident during the Montreal Masters last August.
In his match against Paolo Lorenzi, during a break between two points of his service game, Kyrgios used a towel to wipe off his sweat. After using the towel, Kyrgios accidently threw the towel back to a line judge, assuming that a ball-boy would be there to collect it.
The line judge was quite un-amused by the entire incident and didn’t pay any heed to it as the towel fell down to his feet.
The Australian soon realised what he had done, saw the funny side of it and was quick to offer an apology to the official. He even uploaded a video of the incident on his Instagram handle with the caption,
“Don’t think the line judge was too happy. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️I was sweating so much, my bad 🤒 “

Nick Kyrgios had to unfortunately retire in the quarterfinals of the Atlanta Open last week due to a hip injury. He also withdrew himself from the Citi Open in Washington on Wednesday as he has not fully recovered from the injury.
