WATCH: Virat Kohli celebrates his first hundred in England in style
Coming into the England tour, all the talks revolved around Virat Kohli’s 2014 numbers and how his performance would determine India’s chances in 5 match test series.
With all the chatter rising in volume with India landing in Edgbaston, one man had been working hard all through these 4 years to silence his critics.
And he wasn’t letting go off the first opportunity to do so.
Virat Kohli walked into the middle in Birmingham with India in a slight spot of bother and saw his teammates fall away without much of a fight.
He knew he had to play away those teasing deliveries outside off stump, but he also knew that if he didn’t manufacture scoring opportunities, India would get bogged down and the scoreboard wouldn’t move much.
He devised a plan to mix his game with the tail, executed it to perfection and got to his 22nd Test ton in fine fashion, splitting the off side field to perfection.
All the energy that had gone into listening to those critics ever since 2014 was vented out in one loud roar as Kohli celebrated his hundred in memorable fashion.
He also, just like in South Africa, took out his engagement pendant and gave it a little kiss.

Kohli has now been dismissed for 149 with India getting all out for 274. England now lead by 13 runs, but Kohli has ensured that the lead is an extremely slender one, thanks to his mammoth effort in the first innings, bailing India out of humiliation.
