Drew McIntyre Update: Have the WWE and the Scottish Warrior Parted Ways with Each Other?
Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE TV has been a hot topic throughout this month. Around WrestleMania 39, news about his current contract expiring soon came out. Reports claimed he is unhappy and might leave WWE for AEW later this year. As a matter of fact, “The Scottish Warrior” hasn’t made a TV appearance since the Showcase of Immortals. In the midst of all of this, fans wonder about the reason behind Drew McIntyre’s absence and whether he will return to WWE TV.
During the recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided some major insights into the matter. He discussed Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE TV and when fans can expect him back. It seems the former WWE champion isn’t out because of his unhappiness with the creative.
The actual reason behind Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE TV revealed
According to Dave Meltzer, fans might have to bear Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE TV for a couple more weeks. The management will assess the whole situation after that. The report also noted that WWE hasn’t advertised The Scottish Warrior for its Madison Square Garden show in July.
However, that’s not a big deal as far as Meltzer is concerned. Because, as per his sources, McIntyre’s name might be out for two reasons. First, he has an injury problem, and second, there’s a contract problem.
Although Dave Meltzer didn’t mention any specific date, he did state that the former WWE champion’s current contract won’t expire for many, many months. However, when it comes to signing a new deal, both parties are still far apart. Meltzer said:
“I was just told it’s a couple of more weeks, and we’ll see what happens from there… There is an injury, and there is a contract issue… His [Drew McIntyre’s] contract doesn’t come due for many, many months. But as far as singing a new deal [with WWE], there’s nothing new. They’re still far apart.”

Fans also believe that his absence and recent Twitter activity might lead to an onscreen character change
Earlier this week, Drew McIntyre took to his Twitter account and turned everything dark. He even went on to remove every reference to WWE. While most of the fans speculated that he may leave the company, there are some who think otherwise.

There’s an assumption that Drew McIntyre’s absence and his Twitter actions are hinting at a character change. Some dirt sheets are reporting that he might return with a heel turn. Though nothing can be said for sure until it happens.
