“LeBron James has his own brand of ‘Air’!”: Skip Bayless Brings Up Michael Jordan Yet Again, Mocks Lakers Star for Embarassing Air-ball
The debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James for the greatest NBA player ever has been going on for a decade. And, as is common knowledge by now, Michael’s six rings to LeBron’s four have always been a point of contention. James, playing in his 20th season, is on a quest to win his fifth championship and help boost his case as the greatest player of all time.
The King and his Los Angeles Lakers are facing off against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA playoffs. After pulling off a stunning victory in Game-1 at the FedEx Forum, the Lakers were looking to win their second consecutive game on the road.
The Lakers superstar has not played to expectations this series, scoring an average of 22.5 PPG while shooting 4-15 from the three-point line. The brilliance of Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves had propelled the team to victory in the first, but the Lakers could not overcome their opponents in the second game.
Skip Bayless mocks Lebron James for his shooting
The co-host of the show ‘Undisputed with Skip and Shannon’ – Skip Bayless‘ opinions on Lebron James are well documented. He believes Jordan to be the greatest player of all time and has had multiple debates with his co-host. Igniting the conversation again, Bayless tweeted this during the second game of the series after James hit an airball:
I guess LeBron has his own brand of “Air.” Air ball.
— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) April 20, 2023
Michael Jordan association with the word ‘Air’-was initially due to his ridiculous hang time and later owing to his sneaker brand – Air Jordan. The tweet by Skip was an attempt to mock LeBron James with a clever play of words while simultaneously comparing him to Michael Jordan.
Los Angeles Lakers’ poor performance in Game Two loss
The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game Two with a score of 93-103. The Grizzlies managed to win despite missing their superstar to a wrist injury. LeBron emerged as the highest scorer for the Lakers with 24 despite a poor shooting night.
James shot a dismal 1-7 from the three-point line and ended the game with the worst +/- in the team. Anthony Davis was a non-factor in the game scoring only 10 points. Rui Hachimura continued his hot shooting performance with 20 points, however, it wasn’t enough to win.
Despite the loss, the Lakers are still well-placed in the series and now head to the Crypto.com arena to protect their home court. The series is expected to be a fight to the end and don’t be surprised if it goes to seven games.
