“Didn’t See This One Coming!”: Magic Johnson Gives Kings Their Flowers After Rooting For Warriors to Take Game 6

The Sacramento Kings stormed back in Game Six after blowing the Golden State Warriors 118-99 at the Chase Center. After a spectacular win by the Warriors in Game Five, Magic Johnson posted a tweet guaranteeing a Sacramento loss, only to chew his words after Friday night’s game.

The Friday night game saw the Kings dominate, hitting big shots and playing physical defense. The Warriors tried to make their famous runs but were unable to lock in on both ends of the court. Their poor performance on the night would mean they have to win on the road again to avoid elimination.

The first-round playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings have been a dogfight right from the jump. In a tightly contested series, both teams are tied at 3-3 heading back to the Golden One Arena for Game Seven.

Magic Johnson did not expect a King’s victory

After a 123-116 Golden State win at Sacramento, Magic complimented the team’s performance and tweeted:

After tonight, this Series is over. There is no way the Kings will beat the Warriors in San Francisco at home!

And after Game 5 of the series, Magic Johnson was quick to predict a victory for the Golden State at home in Game Six. In Magic’s defense, the Warriors had been spectacular at home with a W-L record of 33-8 in the regular season. However, the Lakers legend chewed up his words.

“I can admit when I’m wrong and I didn’t see this one coming,” tweeted Magic.

However, like many others who believed the Warriors would close out the series were stunned by what they saw from the young Sacramento team.

What to expect from Game Seven of the series?

The series has been hard-fought, with four of the six games going down to the last whistle. Both teams have played with a lot of intensity, and it’s only fitting that we have a Game Seven to decide who goes forward.

The superstars, De’Aaron Fox and Stephen Curry have shown out on the big stage averaging close to 30 PPG each. Malik Monk off-the-bench has been a revelation having big scoring nights for the Kings, while Kevon Looney has been a beast on the rebounding glass for the Warriors.

With the series being separated by inches, a lot will come down to the adjustments both coaches make on the floor. We have already seen some game-changing lineups as Draymond came off the bench for Steve Kerr, while Mike Brown decided to play small ball in Game Six to put the Warriors out of rhythm. Needless to say, the fans will be eagerly waiting for Sunday and what the coaches have in store for the decider.
