Joel Embiid has finally done it. He has finally won MVP. After over 2 years of waiting, a whole lot of criticism, adjustments made to his game, and so much more, the man now has the award in his hands. Of course, this isn’t the end of the road. After all this is a franchise competing for an NBA championship. However, it doesn’t hurt to stop and smell the roses once in a while. And it appears that the Philadelphia 76ers’ superstar decided to do exactly that with his whole team during his MVP acceptance interview on Inside the NBA. And the statement it culminated to was beyond wholesome, along with just a little bit of flattery.

The fact that Joel Embiid won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award despite the existence of a certain Nikola Jokic is sure to garner him a multitude of haters. In fact, we’d be willing to bet our bottom dollar that the man has already gotten a few death threats from some crazy fans already. However, we’re sure he doesn’t care too much.

“They’ve sacrificed a lot for me and for the team. You look at someone like James [Harden]. You look at the performance he had last night, I’m sure he could do it every night but he understands he has a different role.”

No matter what anyone says, this award is beyond deserved by Joel Embiid. But like Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls team once said about the then-best ever regular season record, ‘It ain’t no thing without a ring’.

Of course, the MVP means a lot for his legacy, and overall standing in history. However, if he can finally win a championship with this team, there is going to be absolutely nothing like it.

 

When will Joel Embiid return?

At the moment, Joel Embiid is suffering from an LCL sprain in his knee. Earlier, things weren’t looking too rosy on the injury, with the star even having to miss game 1 against Boston. However, there does seem to be a turnaround now, with the Embiid being listed as ‘doubtful’ for game 2.

Of course, the man may not return until game 3 or 4. However, there is now hope that he will return very soon in this series. So, the 76ers only need to hold out a bit longer before they get their MVP back in the fold.
