BTS Sensation Suga, Who Was Cheering the Lakers in Blowout Win Over Warriors, Got His Stage Name Playing Basketball
Last night’s game between the Lakers and the Warriors was quite the spectacle. There were a lot of big names in attendance. Kendall Jenner, Michael B. Jordan, Jack Harlow, and even BTS’ very own Suga. The South Korean rapper is a huge basketball fan and interestingly enough, his stage name is derived from the position he played in high school.
Min Yoon-gi grew up in Daegu, South Korea where he attended Apgujeong High School. It was here that his love for basketball blossomed. But, was he any good? And, what position did he play?
Well, while there may not be any high school tapes of him catching lobs and hitting deep threes, we do know he was a shooting guard. In fact, his name is derived from the first two syllables of the word.

Bangtan Boys, better known as BTS is one of the biggest K-Pop groups in the world. The boy band took the world by storm with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook stealing the hearts of many. But, wowing fans with their incredible dancing and vocal abilities isn’t the only thing they do.
They have lives outside the entertainment industry and hobbies they like to pursue. And, for the group’s rapper Suga, that hobby is basketball. The 30-year-old loves to hoop and was recently in attendance for Game 6 of the Lakers versus the Warriors.
In fact, he is so obsessed with the sport, that he derived his stage name from the Korean word for shooting guard. The position he played back in his high school days.

So, it makes sense why he was repping the Lakers and supporting LeBron James at last night’s game. Although, Stephen Curry may feel some way about that, especially after their wholesome interaction in Tokyo.
Despite repping the Lakers, Suga was supporting the Warriors during pre-season
Suga was beaming with joy last night after the Lakers took down the Golden State Warriors. However, both Stephen Curry and Warriors fans around the world will be feeling betrayed. After all, it was just a few months back that the BTS sensation was seen supporting the Dubs during a preseason game in Tokyo.

Just goes to show how fickle a business the world of sports is. One day you’re in Japan dapping up Steph and months later you’re courtside in the Crypto.com Arena cheering on Anthony Davis.
