Fernando Alonso rejected Red Bull before announcing 2019 decision
Fernando Alonso rejected Red Bull before announcing 2019 decision as revealed by Sky Sports in an interview taken with the Spaniard
Fernando Alonso announced his decision to leave the sport in 2019 a few days back, when he announced that he was in search for a new adventure.
Alonso bid F1 farewell with an emotional video and communicated to his fans that a decision about his future would soon be out in the open.
Ever since that much has happened in the driver market, with Sainz replacing Alonso at McLaren and Gasly upgrading from Toro Rosso to Red Bull.
Before Alonso had made that dreaded announcement, there were reports of him maybe replacing Ricciardo at Red Bull, after the Australian had announced his move to Renault.
However, Christian Horner had rubbished all such reports, claiming that Alonso wasn’t a team player, a story that did get a reaction out of Alonso as well.
“I have huge respect for Fernando, he is a great driver, a fantastic driver, but it’s very difficult…he’s tended to cause a bit of chaos wherever he’s gone” Horner had said.
“I’m not sure it would be the healthiest thing for the team for Fernando to join. Our preference is to continue to invest in youth than take a driver who is obviously close to the end of his career.”
Alonso had laughed off that statement on twitter.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂!!! definitely one of the best things ever!!! Summer hit !!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. #fromlastweekNothanks https://t.co/IaFD3tIMh4
