6ft 8in Jimmy Butler Reminisces a Bizzare and Funny Story About How an Old Lady In London Recognized Him – “What Gave It Away”
Jimmy Butler is unlike any other NBA player we have seen before. Jimmy though ferociously competitive about basketball, is rather ‘quirky’ and ‘eccentric’ off the hardwood. Butler is an odd one as he wears leather boots, enjoys country music, drinks 10 cups of coffee a day, and loves traveling to different countries in the off-season. On the court, the 6’9 forward proved his mettle once again, leading The Miami Heat to the 2022-23 Eastern Conference Final.
Apart from his obvious ferocity on the court, Jimmy is a hustler even off the court. The Heat superstar when talking about one of his ventures called ‘Big Face Coffee’, recalled a ‘heart-touching’ incident around a cup of coffee he had in London.
A cup of coffee in London changed Jimmy Butler’s perspective
While visiting London during the offseason, Jimmy Butler once had a life-changing shift in perspective.
Jimmy on many occasions has shown his love for football and Manchester United. Ironically, Butler once found himself lost in a neighborhood of Chelsea fans. While wandering the streets of London, he was approached by an old lady. She noticed that Jimmy was not from ‘around there.’ Jimmy, realizing that there was an opportunity to strike up a conversation, mentioned his ‘love for the red devils,’ rivals of Chelsea.
The old lady took the bait, and the two had a long conversation. This led to Jimmy realizing that despite the differences between them and their lives, a single commonality was enough for them to have a ‘great conversation.’
Butler, while explaining the situation on The Alo Mind podcast, said:
“We sat down and we talked about how much we had in common. We both were drinking almond milk in our cappuccinos, we both love football, and we both have respect for so many different footballers. I was like there’s so much that we have in common and nobody’s even worried about what we don’t have in common.”
Jimmy Butler started ‘Big Face Coffee’ to hustle players out of their cash during the Bubble Championship
The Heat superstar is not always about the big money. Butler enjoys making money, period. However small the amount.
During the bubble, Butler started his own coffee business to hustle players out of their cash. Butler would charge up to $100 for a coffee as he knew players would never carry change. This meant that Butler kept the entire hundred bucks. Jimmy even mentioned that he named the company after the hundred-dollar bill, also known as ‘ the big face.’
With the Eastern Conference Finals now kicking off, it would be interesting to see if ‘Playoff Jimmy’ can carry the Heat past the favorites in the Boston Celtics. With Tatum coming off a career-defining Game 7 performance against the 76ers, it would be a treat to see Butler and Tatum battle it out for a shot at the NBA Championship.
