Lewis Hamilton admits Mercedes have been bluffing with wins
Lewis Hamilton couldn’t do too much in the battle against Sebastian Vettel at Spa on Sunday, as the German had a little too much power in the tank for the Brit, largely sweeping him aside in the initial part of the race to take the lead.
Vettel lead from thereon and managed the race to perfection, winning it with utmost ease.
Hamilton was left a little frustrated with how the race panned out, but accepted the fact that Ferrari were way quicker than Mercedes, and have been for the last few races.
The Mercedes man spoke about how his team have been battling it out with the situations being presented to them and have largely fought their way to victories.
Hamilton stressed on the fact that Mercedes made good use of the cards dealt to them in the last two races, but their luck was set to run out sometime or the other.
“If it hadn’t have rain in Hockenheim we wouldn’t have won, [Vettel] would have won,” said Hamilton.
“If it hadn’t have rained in Hungary, we wouldn’t have won, he would have won. And obviously he won today.
“Every time we do these press conferences everyone’s like ‘who do you think is faster, you or Ferrari?’
“They’ve had the upper hand on us for some time.
“The pendulum has swung a little bit I would say those last two races in particular, we just did a better job with the cards we were dealt, even though they had better cards.
“We pulled the bluff, almost. There’s only a certain amount of times you can do that. If you’re playing a deck of cards and you’re bluffing, there’s only a certain number of times you can do it before your opponent realises that you’re doing that.” he added.
