“Who Would LeBron James Text First?”: Richard Jefferson And JR Smith Hilariously Avoid Awkward Question with 2,000,000+ Scoville Punishment
The 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers coming back from a 1-3 deficit to snatch the Larry O’Brien trophy from the 73-9 Warriors squad will always be one of the most iconic moments in NBA history. So it’s hardly surprising that the engineers of that historic feat will create an enduring bond between themselves. However, that very bond between former Cavaliers teammates LeBron James, Richard Jefferson, and JR Smith was put to the test recently. And JR Smith had to bear the brunt of it by breaking the Scoville scale.
King James coming back to his home city after his infamous move to Miami, and eventually winning the chip for Cleveland was a monumental affair in sports history. Cavs teammates JR Smith and Richard Jefferson revisited the good ol’ days in Cleveland during a recent reunion. Jefferson even brought up his dunk on Klay Thompson on Christmas Day, declaring the Dubs-Cavs matchup to be the greatest Xmas Day game ever.
Richard Jefferson and JR Smith escape awkward LeBron James dilemma
Richard Jefferson and JR Smith recently appeared on the First We Feast YouTube channel for a unique ‘Truth or Dab’ game. As per the rules, the interviewer would ask the former Cavs players a set of tough questions. They could either choose to answer them honestly or bite a spicy ‘Death wing’, laden with the strongest hot sauces in the market(with over 2,000,000 Scoville units). The glasses of milk on the desk proved that the game is no joke.
After going through several intriguing questions, the host asked JR Smith a tough question. “If you guys both texted LeBron for a favor at the same time, who would he[LeBron] get back to first?”
JR immediately proceeded to take a bite of his wing, not even thinking about answering the question. The swiftness of Smith’s decision prompted the interviewer to burst out in laughter. And that was the end of it. The show ended without a resolution to the dilemma.
LeBron James’ friendship with Richard Jefferson is nothing new for NBA fans. The King has done a boatload of interviews with RJ and almost every time their banter and effortless chemistry have captivated the audience. On the other hand, JR Smith won the 2020 NBA championship with LeBron in the bubble, which probably brought them much closer. Moreover, King James and his friend Maverick Carter were the producers of JR Smith’s newly released documentary Redefined: JR Smith, which premiered in April on Prime Video.
So it’s definitely not an easy choice to make.
The LeBron Chase down block
Richard Jefferson has often praised LeBron James’ heroics in the 2016 NBA Finals in no uncertain terms. RJ has also declared James’ Chase down Game 7 block against Andre Iguodala during a crucial Game 7 matchup, the greatest play in NBA history.
"The greatest play that I've ever saw— it's the block. That's Game 7, he's played every minute, it's the last possible game, it's the last possible minute, and he does an athletic feat of sprinting back."

Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas had also agreed with the choice. The block will forever be a highlight of the Cavs’ memorable Finals win.
