Sehwag on India’s defeat against England: Best travelling teams are made by performances
Sehwag on India’s defeat against England: Former India captain Virender Sehwag lashed out at the Indian team following another series defeat.
Post the 60-run defeat at Southampton, the Indian cricket team has received continuous denunciation from both fans and former cricketers. In the post-match presentation, Virat Kohli was right in stating that the team has been outplayed only once. But what is hurting the fans and the Indian cricket experts is the fact that India has managed to lose another away series.
Virender Sehwag, former Indian captain and second-highest run-scorer for India as a Test opener, has also joined the list of eminent cricketers who have criticized the current team’s wayward performance during the ongoing series against England.
During an interaction with India TV, Sehwag was quoted, “Best travelling teams are made by performances on the ground and not by sitting in the dressing rooms and talking about it. One can talk whatever they want to talk about but unless the bat does the talking, they can never become the best travelling team.”
Apparently, before the series had began, coach Ravi Shastri had advocated for the Indian team having bright chances of becoming the best travelling team around the world. Shastri believed that the current lot of players have the skills to attain that status. However, India’s performance in the series speak of otherwise.
Perhaps, Sehwag was targeting the way the team management reduced the practice match by a day or maybe something else. But vocal as he is, he didn’t hesitate to criticize the team.
Both the teams will now face each other on September 7 for the last match of the series at The Oval. Playing for pride, India would be looking to win the match and make a statement. Following these three guidelines might help them to stage a victory in the dead rubber.
