Carlos Alcaraz Opens Up About His Favorite Secret Food Before Every Match
Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has taken the world by a storm. Over the past 18 months, the growth he has shown has been tremendous. Not many players have been capable of doing things the way this youngster has, winning a Grand Slam and also capturing the World No. 1 spot.
The 20-year-old won his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open last season. It was the second time he was competing in New York and ending up as a champion reveals he is only going to rise in the sport.
Carlos Alcaraz Is Not Very Fussy
Recently, Alcaraz provided an insight into his diet. He spoke about the food he consumes the night before a match and also on the day of the match. Carlos consumes a lot of dates, banana’s, eggs. However, he eats a lot of sushi the night prior to the game.
Speaking on this subject, he stated,
“I have a plate of mixed gluten-free pasta. That is, pasta with and without gluten, with a cocoa cream called Ambrosía that has olive oil and dates in it. I normally eat all that, more or less, one and a half hours before a match.”
He also speaks about how isn’t much fussy about his diet. Although, he does not have a craving for desserts. The Spaniard has been following this diet consistently since close to two years now. Since he arrived on the tour, the 6ft player has become more muscular and looking fit. He is still young and will only grow on from here now.
The US Open winner added,
“When it’s match time, I normally have a bar with dates, egg whites and, I think, guarana in it. And I normally have bananas, too. I’ve been eating that for a long time, like a year and a half, and I really do like it.”
Innovative in His Style of Play
Going by his attributes, Carlos Alcaraz is a muscular player who conducts his game with a lot of power. He likes to control the point from the baseline and has lately learnt to execute the drop shot efficiently. He played quite a few at the French Open this year.
At the moment, the World No. 1 is in London at the SW19. He defeated French player Jeremy Chardy. After winning his opening round match with sheer calmness, he will be up against another Frenchman, Alexandre Muller.
The grass isn’t his most favorite surface to play on. However, he can adapt quickly. To add to his advantage, he has entered this tournament on a high note, winning the title in Queen’s last week. With each event passing by, the youngster only gets better. We wish to see him go deep into his second Grand Slam tournament this season.
