Chase Elliott Joins Other NASCAR Names on Quest to Take Home $30,000 in the Battle at Berlin
Chase Elliott recently announced that he will be racing in the SRL National Super Late Model series next month. The 2020 Cup Series champion will be joined by Kevin Harvick’s 2024 replacement Josh Berry as well as Legacy Motor Club driver Erik Jones at the Berlin Raceway on August 9. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has raced in 4 separate late-model series’ already.
Just last week he was back at the Slinger nationals where he performed reasonably well. Now heading into his 5th late model race, Elliott will be facing stiff competition as everyone vies for the $30,000 prize.
Does Chase Elliott have a shot at winning at Berlin Raceway?
Elliott is no stranger to racing late models or super late models. Before getting into the Cup series he used to race in such formats on a rather regular basis. In fact, he has even won prestigious super late model races like the Snowball Derby twice among several others. Therefore coming into the Battle at Berlin in a month’s time, he should have a solid chance of contesting for the win.

Although, that does not mean that the competition would go easy on him. Fellow NASCAR driver Erik Jones is a two-time winner here. Meanwhile, Josh Berry may not have as much experience in this specific format of racing, but he does have some experience in late-model racing.
How was the race for Elliott at Slinger Nationals?
Heading into the Slinger Nationals, Elliott had stiff competition in the form of his fellow teammate William Byron and the eight-time winner Matt Kenseth. Erik Jones was also participating in the race. The HMS driver managed to finish the event in a decent 6th place.
The race remained fairly uneventful in terms of wrecks, although there was an instance when the caution flag waved at lap 28. This was due to a spin that involved William Sawalich, Brad Mueller, and Brad Keith.
At the end of the race, Elliott was the highest-finishing driver out of the bunch that came from the NASCAR Cup Series. His HMS teammate, Byron ended up finishing in the 10th place. Meanwhile, right behind Byron was Jones coming in at 11th, while Matt Kenseth kissed goodbye to his shot at winning for the 9th time after he ended up in 22nd position.
