Asia Cup Super Four Schedule announced
Asia Cup Super Four Schedule announced: All the matches of the Super Four Stage of Asia Cup have been announced.
The much awaited schedule of the Super Four has finally been announced. The announcement has put to rest the speculations regarding the fixtures of the next round of the ongoing Asia Cup.
Even before the start of the tournament, it was expected that the India-Pakistan clash would be the highlight of it. The expectation was brought to reality as the tournament approached its first episode of the arch-rivals taking on each other.
In the Super Four, both the team will lock horns yet again. The second episode of this rivalry will be played on September 23, which happens to be a Sunday, something which will attract additional eyeballs to both the stadium and TV screens.
The downside of this announcement being made has received criticism for Mashrafe Mortaza. Ideally, it should have been made tomorrow after Bangladesh and Afghanistan play their second match. The Asian Cricket Council has named Afghanistan at the top of the points table and Bangladesh a position below it even before both of them playing a match.
Speaking in an interview to Cricbuzz, Mortaza was quoted, “It is very disappointing. Basically what has happened is that we were made the second team in Group B even before we played the last game.”
The Super Four stage of the Asia Cup will begin on September 21 (Friday) with India and Bangaldesh taking on each other at Dubai and Pakistan and Afghanistan taking on each other at Abu Dhabi. Below is the full schedule:
September 21: India vs Bangladesh at Dubai; Pakistan vs Afghanistan at Abu Dhabi.
September 23: India vs Pakistan at Dubai; Afghanistan vs Bangladesh at Abu Dhabi.
September 25: India vs Afghanistan at Dubai.
September 26: Pakistan vs Bangladesh at Abu Dhabi.
September 28: Final at Dubai.
