“Dad’s Get a Bad Rep”: Michael Jordan’s Son Marcus Appreciates Lionel Messi’s ‘Fatherhood’ Having Lived Through Father’s Gambling Addiction

Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen are currently in a highly publicized relationship. The two have been under heavy criticism for the same and as such started their own podcast, Separation Anxiety. On the podcast, they discuss a variety of topics, including things outside of their dating life. And, having previously discussed the possibility of having a family together, Marcus Jordan brought up the topic of Lionel Messi on the latest episode of the podcast, “Caught in the Act!”. Messi, who recently signed with Inter Miami is a well-known family man. And, Marcus, who grew up around the time his father, Michael Jordan’s raging gambling addiction came to light had nothing but praise for him.

Lionel Messi has all eyes on him right now. His debut against Cruz Azul could not have gone any better, as he scored a wonderful free-kick goal in the dying embers of the game. Everyone in America is talking about him and his family. It just so happens that Marcus and Larsa are one of many.

Marcus Jordan who grew up during the height of Michael Jordan’s gambling addiction has high praise for Lionel Messi

On a recent episode of their podcast, Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen spoke about fatherhood. And, one of the people who came up as a result of this happens to be Miami’s newest celebrity personality. Lionel Messi is considered by many to be the ideal celebrity father.

Discussing his recent move to Inter Miami, Marcus, and Larsa commented on what a great character Messi is. In particular, they appreciated his role as a father and a family man. Marcus praised Messi for being an amazing father and saluted his decision to support his family, even in public. From insisting his wife stand by his side during photoshoots, to taking his family out grocery shopping.

Having grown up the son of Michael Jordan, Marcus believes that celebrity fathers get a bad rap. And, considering he was raised around the time His Airness’ gambling addiction came to light, his praise for Messi is sincere.

“I like seeing that they do things together as a family. I think we’ve talked about this. Like being an athlete…growing up in the family of a public figure. Sometimes, the dads get a bad rap for not being there necessarily. And I feel like with Messi…even down to publics he’s going grocery shopping with his family. And so, you love to see that!”

Messi is considered by many to be one of the greatest footballers and even athletes in the history of sports. And, given the lavish praise Marcus and Larsa have for him, he also qualifies as a great husband and father as well.

Michael Jordan’s regular golfing trips and penchant for gambling probably affected his son and his siblings

Michael Jordan did his best as a father. However, his plethora of problems probably had an adverse effect on Marcus Jordan and his siblings. His gambling problems, which saw him being dragged to court on one occasion definitely played a factor. As did his regular golfing trips with the likes of Charles Barkley and Tiger Woods.

That coupled with his busy schedule as an NBA superstar and a sporting icon most likely made things even more difficult.

Fortunately, this did not deter their relationship as father and son. And, to this day, Marcus is proud to have a father like Michael Jeffrey Jordan.
