David Croft to be sacked by Sky Sports, reports Joe Saward in the Inside F1 podcast.

Tune into Sky Sports on an F1 weekend and you would find that David Croft baritone ringing around in your room, one that provides entertainment and solace to F1 fans all around the globe.

It’s been 13 years since Croft started commentating on F1 and 6 years since he joined the Sky Sports F1 team as a broadcaster.

His journey has been inspirational and brilliant to say the least, providing F1 fans with some entertainment even during some of those boring practice sessions.

However, according to Joe Saward in the ‘Inside F1’ podcast, David Croft could be on his way out of Sky Sports, as the team isn’t quite happy with him.

The news comes as a massive jolt to a lot of fans who have been accustomed to Croft’s style of commentary on an F1 weekend.

While fans have admitted that Croft does become a little predictable at times, but his voice and way of commentating does provide that extra spice to an F1 weekend.

Rumour from Joe Saward that Crofty may be leaving Sky F1 as they aren’t happy with him.

According to the reports, Webber could come on board at Sky Sports, and we could have a commentary team comprising of Webber and Brundle, which does sound like an interesting prospect.

A fan expressed his utmost disgust at the rumour, as he felt that Croft doesn’t quite get the respect he deserves.

“Would be a huge shame, he’ll get instantly picked up by someone else. He gets a lot of hate here but Crofty genuinely is one of the best in the business.” the fan said.

“People in here watch practice sessions and get annoyed with him because he spends a lot of the time talking about relatively useless things, but think about it. There are 4 hours of practice sessions, and for more than most of that time there really isn’t anything exciting going on at all on track.

“There aren’t very any people in the world who every single weekend can just randomly fill for hours on end and keep it exciting all the way through. It’s a practice session for crying out loud, what are you expecting to see?

“People also love to believe that the Channel 4 broadcasts are the best thing since sliced bread. Other than the fact they are on free to air TV, are they really that good though? I’ve been listening to Sky’s commentary in Australia for many years now. There have been a couple of races over the years where for various reasons I’ve been forced to watch the Channel 4 broadcast, and the commentary quality is so low compared to Sky it was barely watchable for me. If it was anything other than F1 I wouldn’t have watched those races.” he added.
