“Formula One is Ferrari”- Former F1 boss
“Formula One is Ferrari”- Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone lauds Enzo Ferrari’s advice that was game-changing for him in initial years.
Ferrari is a team that has witnessed all the phases of Formula 1 and is the most decorated team in it. Despite, several setbacks during its nadir, Ferrari still managed to uphold its charm.
Bernie Ecclestone talking about Ferrari’s might discussed how Enzo Ferrari in the initial days of the competition gave advice, a game-changing moment for the sport.
The 90-year-old said to GQ magazine, “Mr [Enzo] Ferrari. He was exceptional, and he helped me a lot. He taught me that the sport is on the table and the business is under it. Formula One is Ferrari and Ferrari is Formula One. It’s that simple.”
Though Ferrari didn’t win titles during the initial years of the competition, but eventually with time, patience and proper investment, the team is now the most successful side in the history.
Apart from Enzo, Ecclestone also credits Colin Chapman for his contribution. “Colin [Chapman] was another. He was a genius. A speedy driver too,” concluded Ecclestone.
Ferrari: In the seek of the past
Ferrari in 2020 had the gravest of struggles with the team finishing P6 on the constructors’ table. With 2021 season about to start, Ferrari is still not aiming for the title contest, rather a spot above the midtable teams.
It has been argued that the engine penalty imposed on them in 2019 forced their downfall. Those are the days of the past, and the Italian outfit is focusing on the future.
For their rejuvenation, they must seek wisdom from its past, where certain setbacks never forced them to bow done, and eventually overcame the barriers to flourish in the end.
It has a young lineup in Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, with a massive pool of talent in the academy to bolster their aspirations in the following years.
