Virat Kohli’s sublime cover drive: The Indian captain was seen hitting an outstanding cover drive off Pat Cummins.

During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Perth, India captain Virat Kohli stood tall on the expectations for the umpteenth time in his career. Coming in to bat at 8-2 in the sixth over, Kohli eased the nerves first up by hitting four boundaries off Australia vice-captain Josh Hazlewood.

After taking on the attack on the opposition bowlers, Kohli pressed down the accelerator citing the conditions and the quality of the bowling on display. Kohli stitched a 74-run partnership for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara (24) as the duo removed the shine off the ball.

With Pujara getting out in the 39th over, Kohli continued to battle it out in the middle. With a boundary over gully off Pat Cummins, Kohli completed his 20th half-century on the third ball of the 44th over.

The Indian captain then stitched an unbeaten 90-run partnership with vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (51*). With both of them at the crease, one expects them to take India over the Australian total of 326 for even any lead would be gold for team India.

At stumps, Kohli was playing on 82* (181). His innings comprised of nine fours. Among all his boundaries, his eighth one was a shot to be continuously played on loop. On the second delivery of the 62nd over, Kohli hit an exquisite cover drive off Cummins, which saw him reaching to 69*.
