WATCH: Steve Smith gives away emotions during Sandpapergate saga
Steve Smith gives away emotions during Sandpapergate: Banned Australian captain was vocal about his emotions in a recent advertisement.
Banned Australia captain Steve Smith was recently vocal about the outpouring emotions which he went through during the infamous ball tampering saga which happened earlier this year when Australia were in South Africa.
The then Australia captain and vice-captain, Smith and David Warner respectively, were banned for a year by Cricket Australia. While the duo has played club-level cricket since then, they will only be eligible for representing Australia in April.
Smith appeared in an advertisement for Vodafone, expressing his feelings about those ‘dark’ and ‘difficult’ days that were bestowed upon him post the incident. “Everything I dreamed of, everything I was a part of was just falling to pieces. I was in a pretty dark space,” Smith was quoted as saying in the commercial.
After returning to Australia, Smith had apologized to the whole country for all that he did. A role model for plentiful children down under, Smith admitted to his mistake with tears shedding off his eyes.
Speaking on similar lines in the video, Smith said, “I’ve certainly had some difficult days. But it’s OK to be vulnerable. Everyone makes mistakes.”
Apart from playing for his club Sutherland, Smith also took part in a couple of overseas T20 leagues which perhaps must have given him the impression of belonging to the game.
“It’s nice to be back at the club. I love being in a contest where it’s just you versus the bowler,” Smith said about playing for his club.
It is believed that Smith will address the media for the first time after that press conference on Friday in Sydney.

Can’t wait for him to return. Has copped the punishment on the chin like a true champ. The summer has been poorer for his absence

I don’t know why, but I feel like Warner is incapable of the kind of remorse Smith feels. I hope I’m wrong.
