Bumrah achieves career-high rankings: The Indian fast bowler reached his career-high rankings after a career-best performance at Melbourne.
The latest update in the ICC Test rankings has seen major gains for fast bowlers across teams. The primary reason behind the same is them dominating the opposition during the Boxing-Day Test.
India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who registered his career-best bowling figures against Australia yesterday, also reached his career-best ranking at No. 16. The 25-year old cricketer has jumped 12 places to reach his current rank.
Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins, who has been the pick of the Australian fast bowlers during the ongoing series, reached No. 3 for the first time in his career. In the eight Test matches which he has played this year, Cummins has picked up 44 wickets at an average of 19.97, an economy rate of 2.79 and a strike rate of 42.8.
New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who picked his seventh five-wicket haul in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Christchurch, made a comeback into the Top 10 as he has reached No. 7 from No. 14.

South Africa fast bowler Duanne Olivier, who registered his career-best match bowling figures (11-96) against Pakistan at Centurion, jumped 17 spots to a career-best No. 36.
Among the batsmen, India captain Virat Kohli has retained his No. 1 spot one more time. New Zealand opening batsman Tom Latham, who scored his eighth Test century recently, jumped up b eight position to reach No. 14.
From the match played at Centurion, South Africa wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock gained five spots to reach No. 25. Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who scored his 10th half-century, jumped nine spots to reach No. 29.
The Indian middle-order duo of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant jumped 11 and 10 spots to reach No. 44 and 38 respectively. With a significant lead under their belt, India continue to retain their No. 1 Test team status.
