LeBron James calls out Lakers teammates after loss to New Orleans Pelicans

The Lakers succumbed to a rather timid loss against the New Orleans Pelicans tonight, despite the home team playing without their star man Anthony Davis.

The LeBron led Lakers seemed to be short on defensive prowess on the night, something that the Pelicans took full toll off.

The game finished 128-115 in favour of the Pelicans and left the Lakers reeling in 10th place in the Western conference.

LeBron James was visibly frustrated after the loss, naturally so, as the Lakers are entering the business end of the season and don’t seem to have the intensity or the chemistry to make it deep into the playoffs.

Qualifying for the playoffs looks like an uphill battle at the moment, as the team keeps succumbing to strange losses.

With LeBron mentoring a young core in LA, the 3 time champion had some wise words for his team, also calling them out for being afraid in his post match comments.

“When you’ve never been there or know what it takes to shoot for something like that, sometimes you’re afraid to get uncomfortable,” LeBron said.

“You’ve got to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

“I’m not saying that’s what we are as a whole, kind of looks like that at times that sometimes we’re afraid to being uncomfortable.

“Kind of get out of our comfort zone, have that sense of urgency from the jump and not be afraid to go out and fail to succeed.

“We have 23 games left and we’ll see what happens.” he added.

Lakers have been inconsistent this season, not being able to string together of a series of wins in order to get out of that mid table rut.

When asked if it was too late for the Lakers to build some consistency, LeBron worriedly said that he didn’t quite know.

“I don’t know,” he said.

“We’ve just got to play better in a next game in Memphis.

“What are we? 60 games in? So I don’t know.” he added.

LeBron and the Lakers are clearly worried about how things are transpiring this season and will have to play out of their skins in these last 23 games to make it to the playoffs and then go deep in them.

For the time being it seems like they need to go back to the drawing board and figure out a formula that allows them to get back to normalcy.
