CSK vs KKR Man of the Match: Chennai Super Kings fast bowler was declared the Man of the Match for his match-winning spell against KKR.

During the 23rd match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Chennai Super Kings at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets to register their fifth IPL 2019 victory.

With five wins in six matches, Chennai have replaced Kolkata at the top of the points table.

Chasing a 109-run target, Super Kings never gave the impression of being in any sort of concern despite losing a couple of wickets in the powerplay. Opening batsman Faf du Plessis top-scored for his team scoring 43* (45) with the help of three fours. du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu (21) shared a pivotal 46-run partnership for the third wicket.

It was du Plessis and CSK all-rounder Kedar Jadhav (8*) who sealed the chase in the 18th over. With bowling figures of 3.2-0-24-2, Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.

After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the opposition in to bat, the hosts’ bowlers supported their captain’s decision as they restricted KKR to 108/9 in 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 7, Russell ended up scoring 50* (44) with the help of five fours and three sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-20-3, Chahar was the pick of Super Kings’ bowlers. Other than him, veteran spinners in Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir dismissed two batsmen each. Chahar, who dismissed Chris Lynn (0), Nitish Rana (0) and Robin Uthappa (11) in the powerplay was declared the Man of the Match award for running through KKR’s top-order.
