Why is Jos Buttler not playing today: Rajasthan Royals opening batsman has not been included to their Playing XI vs Mumbai Indians.

During the 36th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Jos Buttler hasn’t been included to their Playing XI.

In what has come as a massive development for RR, they will be devoid of the in-form opening batsman to with being brilliant in the outfield. In the eight matches which Buttler has played in IPL 2019, he has scored 311 runs at an average of 38.87 and a strike rate of 151.70 including three half-centuries.

In his absence, who will Rajasthan send to open the batting remains to be answered. While Ajinkya Rahane looks set to be regain his position at the top of the order, one out of Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag will accompany him against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga.

While there was not much said about Buttler’s absence earlier, if reports in ESPNcricinfo are to be believed, he has returned back to England for the birth of his child. With English cricketers slated to return back next week, whether Buttler will any further part in IPL 2019 is unknown at this point in time.

Among the other changes which Royals have made it to their squad, they have included Parag, Steven Smith and Ben Stokes in place of Rahul Tripathi, Ish Sodhi and Buttler.
