Victor Wembanyama Points Tonight: How Did the 2024 ROTY Fare Against ‘Rival’ Chet Holmgren in October 30th Matchup?
Victor Wembanyama took on his ‘rival’ Chet Holmgren for the fourth time in their young careers tonight. After an exciting ROTY battle last year, the matchup between the young bigs had become, arguably, the biggest subplot in the San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunders game.
Wembanyama was slow off the blocks. He went 1 of 2 from the field, scoring just four points in the first quarter. Wemby was seen limping back to the locker room before the end of the quarter.
He returned to the floor in the second and seemed to be moving well. Wemby finished the first half with six points. He shot 1-of-5 from the field and 0-of-3 from the deep.
Surprisingly, Wemby attempted no shots in the second half. He got just two rebounds and two blocks in the third quarter and ended the night with a career-low six points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three blocks.

Holmgren, meanwhile, had a much better night for Thunder. He scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the deep. In addition, he registered five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Wemby has mostly outperformed Chet in their young rivalry. He averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.7 blocks last year vs. Thunder. Chet averaged 16.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.7 blocks against the Spurs last season.
Holmgren, though, had the last laugh tonight. The Thunder took the contest 105-93. With the victory, Chet improved his record to 3-1 against Wemby.
