Virat Kohli comments on RCB’s loss vs DC: RCB captain reflects on way ahead in IPL 2019
Virat Kohli comments on RCB’s loss vs DC: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain was vocal about their eighth IPL 2019 loss.
During the 46th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Delhi, Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament.
Speaking during the post-match presentation, RCB captain Virat Kohli was vocal about losing their eighth toss in a row. He further admitted that chasing a 188-run target on the Feroz Shah Kotla wicket was always going to be tough.
“It was an important toss, but even after losing it, the way we bowled was nice. Showed character but the game got away, 185 [188] on that pitch with three spinners in their ranks was going to be tough. We were thinking 160-165, we had a chance. In crunch moments, Delhi played better than us,” Kohli was quoted as saying.
A 63-run opening partnership between wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel and Kohli had laid an apt foundation for the others to follow. Having said that, RCB losing wickets at regular intervals saw them falling apart in the chase.
“With the bat, we started very well. PP [Parthiv Patel] was outstanding, I got off to a start but me and AB [de Villiers] getting out to balls you don’t get out to changed it,” Kohli said.
“The fun factor should never go away”
Having succumbed to their eighth loss in the tournament, Bangalore are now all but out from the tournament. Laying emphasis on enjoying the remaining two matches, Kohli gave indication of fighting hard till the end of the tournament.
“We can only focus on having fun, that’s what we decided to do and has helped us win four out of the last six games. We don’t want to take too much pressure.
Congratulations to @DelhiCapitals on qualifying into the Play-Offs.
We should’ve gotten closer, but some great bowling & and key breakthroughs in the middle overs by DC put the brakes on our chase. ☹️ #DCvRCB #VIVOIPL2019

“The fun factor should never go away, we still got two games and we’ll work hard. We’ll go out there, expressive cricket and be positive. When we’re done with the two games, we’ll sit down and see where this tournament goes,” Kohli added.
