Stephen Curry Finally Reveals What He Said to Trash-Talk Klay Thompson and the Mavericks Amidst Warriors Win

“You better stay here,” reverberated across social media after Stephen Curry hit that dagger three to win the Golden State Warriors their first game against Klay Thompson’s Dallas Mavericks this season. While people were mostly convinced about what Steph shouted into the camera, there still was that inkling of doubt. Did he actually say that?

Well, the Warriors superstar finally revealed what he said during an on-court interview five days after the game. “You better stay here. That’s what I was yelling.”

And yell he did. On what was an emotional night for Curry, he made sure he brought his A-game to the table in the clutch vs Mavs. With 26 seconds left on the clock, Steph hit the three over Dereck Lively II to give his team a four-point lead over the visitors. Apart from the quality of the shot, the timing was also perfect. It also allowed Steph to get a few things off his chest.

During the game, Thompson was also uncharacteristically celebrating some of his shots. He even hit Steph’s signature shimmy after a three.

At the end of the day, both of them are fierce competitors and their on-court expressions were nothing but a show of their passion for the game.

Thompson ghosting Curry had infuriated the superstar

The matchup between the former teammates was destined to be special. It seems something that transpired a few hours prior to the game eventually transformed it — from being an emotional affair to a fiercely competitive outing for both Curry and Klay.

Draymond Green revealed that Steph had reached out to Thompson before the game. His Splash Brother, however, ghosted Curry.

“Steph was supposed to speak before the game. He was like, ‘Yeah, I called Raymond and told him I’m not speaking. I just need to lock in on the game, so, I ain’t even speaking and I talked to Klay about it’,” the Warriors veteran said on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show.

Green added, “He tried to check in with Klay on something else and Klay ghosted him. So he got pissed.”

Green wanted to see his former teammate have a great outing and the Warriors win the game. He admitted to stirring the pot a little, and the night went exactly the way he hoped it would.
