In the first match which Bangalore and Hyderabad played in IPL 2019, Hyderabad registered a massive 118-run victory at home. It was a match-winning 185-run opening partnership between Jonny Bairstow (114) and David Warner (100*) which had propelled them to 231/2 in 20 overs.
IPL 2018 had seen Sunrisers and Royal Challengers facing each other twice. In the first match at Hyderabad, their bowlers had successfully defended 146 runs as each one of their bowlers in Sandeep Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul contributed with wickets.
In the return fixture at Bengaluru, Sunrisers failed to chase a 219-run target posted by RCB on the back of half-centuries from AB de Villiers (69) and Moeen Ali (65).
