The first match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019 saw the hosts in CSK successfully defending 160 runs as they restricted the opposition to 138/5 in 20 overs. Having picked bowling figures of 4-1-17-2, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh was declared the Man of the Match.
In the two matches played between CSK and KXIP in IPL 2019, both the team ended up winning their respective home matches. The first match at Mohali was a high-scoring one which saw Chennai failing to chase 198 runs by 4 runs despite captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scoring 79* (44) with the help of six fours and five sixes.
In the second encounter at Pune, Chennai Super Kings chased down a 154-run target in the last over despite creating ‘chaos’ by sending Harbhajan Singh and Deepak Chahar ahead of Dhoni.
