CSK vs DC Man of the Match: Who was awarded Man of the Match in CSK vs DC Qualifier 2?
CSK vs DC Man of the Match: Chennai Super Kings opening batsman was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for his brilliant knock.
During the Qualifier 2 of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Visakhapatnam, Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets to qualify for yet another IPL final. The defending champions will now face Mumbai Indians in the final at Hyderabad on Sunday.
After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the opposition in to bat, Capitals ended up scoring 147/9 in 20 overs. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Delhi didn’t receive any momentum during their innings.

Had it not been wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant (38) and DC’s bowlers hitting a few boundaries towards the end, they would have struggled to put on board a respectable total. For Chennai, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh picked up a couple of wickets each.

In the second innings, CSK opening batsman Faf du Plessis took on the bowlers from the word go. While his partner in Shane Watson struggled a bit initially, du Plessis ensured that he laid a solid foundation for the others to follow. Playing well against both spinners and fast bowlers, du Plessis played a dominant role in the 81-run opening stand.

Before getting out in the 11th over, du Plessis had scored 50 (39) with the help of seven fours and a six. On the back of him and Watson (50) scoring individual half-centuries, Chennai eventually sealed the chase in the penultimate over. Having scored his 12th IPL half-century, du Plessis was declared the ‘Man of the Match.
“Our strength is to get partnerships going and extend that, even if we take our time initially. We’ve got a lot of good batsmen down the order, and we back them to catch up with the required rate,” du Plessis was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.
