Mithali Raj to lead the Indian Squad in Women’s World Cup Qualifier
Indian Women’s Cricket star Mithali Raj will be in charge of the 14-member squad which will represent India at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. The qualifiers will be played in Colombo starting the 3rd of February.
The Indian Team last took to the field in the Asia Cup T20 in Bangkok. It emerged victorious with a cent percent record.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, two of the very experienced players, are currently playing in the Big Bash League in Australia.
World Cup Qualifiers are the next big thing for the team.
The groups are divided as follows:
Group A
India
Sri Lanka
Ireland
Zimbabwe
Thailand
Group B
South Africa
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Scotland
PNG

India’s warm-up tie is scheduled against the South African team. India will take on Sri Lanka in their opening tie on the 7th of February.
The format of the tournament is as follows:
Each side will play every other team of its group in the first round. The top 3 sides from each group will progress to the next stage which is the Super Six stage. However the teams will also carry their initial points along with them moving into this round.
Each team here will play 3 matches against all the teams from the other group. The top two teams will then battle it out for the crown in the all-important final.
The World Cup is to be held in the UK from June 26 to July 23.
