South African great and a true legend f the game, AB de Villiers finally disclosed the reason for retiring before the 2019 World Cup.
AB de Villiers is certainly one of the best cricketers that have ever played the game. He was sensational throughout his career and was the best limited overs batsman that South Africa have ever produced.
This year, he was sensational in the IPL and impressed one and all with his fielding prowess. After Virat Kohli, he was the highest scorer for the RCB lineup and the mainstay of the team. However, just after the IPL got over, AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.

However, in the video that AB de Villiers posted on his official app and then on Twitter, he said that it was his choice and he did not want to pick and choose between the format he played.
After a long wait, AB de Villiers has finally come out in public and revealed what triggered his decision of retirement.
De villiers believes that he had come to terms with the fact that a single tournament cannot decide his entire career. He went on to say that he had put too much pressure on himself by thinking about winning the World Cup.
“For a long time, the World Cup was a massive goal. But, in the last few years, I have realised that it isn’t realistic to measure yourself purely on what you achieve in that tournament. That will not be the be-all and end-all of my career.
“I guess that once I acknowledged to myself that I didn’t have to measure my career on one tournament, place so much emphasis on it, it became easier to make my decision. I also didn’t want to be picking and choosing my way through fixtures from now until then. It wouldn’t be fair,” de Villiers said.
However, the good news for the Indian fans is that de Villiers will continue playing in the IPL for the next few years. The fans would be treated to his sensational batting display and out of the word fielding.
